Symposium theme and its context

The Education Research Symposium theme for 2016 was determined with the goal to better unite the ongoing research efforts of the Ministry of General Education (MOGE), Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), and Zambian Higher Education Institutions (ZHEIs), cooperating partners, and civil society organizations (CSOs). Proposals will be accepted along one of the following seven themes:

  • Curriculum & Vocational Training
  • Higher Education Management & Accreditation
  • HIV Education
  • Education Leadership
  • Literacy and Early-Grade Reading
  • Open and Distance eLearning (ODeL)
  • Science, Technology, & Innovation (STI)

Besides papers on one of the above themes, examples of optimal research initiatives in various provinces and districts are also of
particular interest as are case studies of higher education institutional partnerships.

Symposium organizations and support

The Symposium will take place at the University of Zambia (UNZA). It will be organized by representatives of MOGE, MOHE, ZHEIs, cooperating partners, and CSOs


Papers and panels are invited to address these or related themes. Proposals of up to 400 words (for papers) and 800 words (for panels) should be sent via email on or before 31 August 2016 to the Symposium Research Committee
( Presenters will be notified
by 15 September 2016. If your proposal is accepted for presentation, full papers of between 4,000-7,500 words are to be submitted to the same email address no later than 31 October 2016. Updated details concerning communication, registration, accommodation, and the program will be provided via this website.
